Basketball Recap: Sweetwater's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Two

If San Ysidro wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Sweetwater, they should've done a better job of containing Leilyn Goldberg. The Sweetwater Red Devils snuck past the San Ysidro Cougars with a 33-29 victory on Tuesday thanks in part to Goldberg, who posted 26 points. Those 26 points gave her a new career-high.

San Ysidro's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madison Wittlieff, who had eight points. Another player making a difference was Sophia Ruiz, who earned seven points.

The win made it two in a row for Sweetwater and bumps their season record up to 7-12. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.0 points over those games. As for San Ysidro, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-20.

Sweetwater does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for San Ysidro, they will head out to challenge Southwest SD at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
