Soccer Game Preview: Minarets vs. Morro Bay

The Minarets Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Morro Bay Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Minarets' defense has only allowed 0.5 goals per game this season, so Morro Bay's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Minarets will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal on Saturday, then bounced right back against Firebaugh on Thursday. Minarets' defense stepped up to hand Firebaugh a 5-0 shutout. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 164th, while the Eagles are ranked 442nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Minarets hit Firebaugh with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Gennie Munoz (2), Allison DeMasters, Kamryn Holland, and Devon Menchaca.

Meanwhile, Morro Bay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 4-0 to Highland.

The win made it two in a row for Minarets and bumps their season record up to 5-1. As for Morro Bay, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
