Basketball Recap: Blacklick Valley Takes a Loss

If Blacklick Valley was riding high fresh off their 48-19 takedown of Shade on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Vikings had to suffer through a 74-36 loss at the hands of the Williamsburg Blue Pirates. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Vikings, who until this matchup were averaging 28.67 points allowed.

Averi Yewcic and Mackenzie Kinter certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Yewcic posted ten points, while Kinter earned 13 points. Yewcic has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Sarah Mourey, who had five points and five boards.

Blacklick Valley's loss ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-4. As for Williamsburg, their win was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-3.

Blacklick Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Williamsburg, they will face off against Bishop Guilfoyle at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
