Baseball Recap: Mount Abram's Luck Changes for the Better on Monday

Mount Abram had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Hall-Dale Bulldogs by a score of 8-3 on Monday. The Roadrunners have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.

Killian Pillsbury and Brennan Mitchell were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Pillsbury tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Mitchell tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mount Abram is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-6 otherwise. At the plate, Pillsbury got on base in three of his four plate appearances with five stolen bases and three runs, while Mitchell got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave Mitchell a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryce Cote, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Walker Wolfe was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Mount Abram's record now sits at 3-7. As for Hall-Dale, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

The future could be bright for both Mount Abram and Hall-Dale: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Roadrunners will look to extend Boothbay's four-game losing streak when they meet at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Hall-Dale will try to hand Oak Hill their third-straight loss when the two meet at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
