Basketball Game Preview: Menlo School Knights vs. Notre Dame Regents

Menlo School is 8-1 against Notre Dame since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Menlo School Knights will head out on the road to challenge the Notre Dame Regents at 6:30 p.m. Menlo School is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.2 points per game this season.

Menlo School is headed into Tuesday's game hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They fell 48-40 to Priory on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Panthers are ranked 19th).

Menlo School's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ruiqi Liu, who went 6-for-14 to rack up 18 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals, and Karen Xin, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine boards. Those nine rebounds gave Xin a new career-high.

Meanwhile, the Regents were able to grind out a solid victory over the Tigers on Friday, taking the game 54-41. The Regents haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

The Regents' victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Menlo School, their loss dropped their record down to 14-8.

Menlo School came up short against Notre Dame in their previous meeting back in January, falling 45-37. Can Menlo School avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
