Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cuba). They strolled past the Newcomb Skyhawks with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 34-20. That's more bragging rights for the Rams, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Despite the loss, Newcomb still got an impressive performance from Colt Yazzie, who rushed for 146 yards and three scores on only 11 carries. Another rusher making a difference was Landon Noble, who rushed for 191 yards.

The victory made it two in a row for Cuba and bumps their season record up to 2-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 20 points in those games. As for Newcomb, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cuba will challenge Laguna Acoma at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rams will be up against the Hawks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 26.38 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Newcomb, they will take on Navajo Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' defense has only allowed 13.6 points per game this season, so the Skyhawks' offense will have their work cut out for them.
