Softball Recap: Festus Drops Highest Score of Season Against East Carter

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Festus). They put the hurt on the East Carter Redbirds with a sharp 17-0 win on Saturday. The Tigers have beaten the Redbirds the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Redbirds has come to flipping the script.

Aubrey Doyle made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Doyle was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Leinna Smith was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Claire Gauch was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Festus hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in eight consecutive matchups.

Festus' record now sits at 11-2. As for East Carter, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Looking ahead, Festus will welcome Perryville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for East Carter, they will venture away from home to challenge Saxony Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
