Softball Recap: Rangeview Comes Up Short

Rangeview extended their losing streak to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 3-14-1. They came up short against the Brighton Bulldogs, falling 18-0. If the Raiders were looking for revenge after losing 17-0 to the Bulldogs when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Rangeview saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Devyn Davenport, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

As for Brighton, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by six runs or more this season.

On Brighton's side, Laikyn Lanzen made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Lanzen has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run and one double. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Riley Doherty, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Mya Arriaga was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and two RBI.

Rangeview has already played their next game, a 13-1 loss against Denver South on the 30th. As for Brighton, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-3 victory against Mountain Range on the 30th.
