High school football: Alvin Henderson of Alabama tops national rushing yardage leaderboard

Elba senior and Auburn commit holds the career rushing mark in the state of Alabama with 10,000 on the horizon.

According to statistics submitted to MaxPreps, Alvin Henderson of Elba (Ala.) is high school football’s national leader in rushing yardage.

Henderson has 2,625 yards and 46 touchdowns this season on 205 carries. The Auburn commit averages 12.8 yards per carry and piled up 446 yards and nine touchdowns during a game on Sept. 6.

Henderson is 65 yards away from becoming the 12th player in history to hit 10,000 career yards.

Zayden Cook of Chattooga (Summerville, Ga.) is No. 2 with 2,423 rushing yards. Last week Cook had a career-high 464 yards and six touchdowns in a 56-36 victory. He has rushed for over 200 yards eight times for the 6-3 Indians.

Conor Booth of Bishop Neumann (Wahoo, Neb.) is right behind Cook at No. 3 with 2,414 rushing yards. The senior rushed for 353 yards last week and has gone for over 200 yards in eight straight games. Booth has 44 touchdowns this season including 25 in the past four weeks.
