Preview: Marysville Indians vs. Bear River Bruins
The Marysville Indians will head out on the road to square off against the Bear River Bruins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Marysville scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They blew past Lindhurst 102-10 on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Marysville has managed all season.
It was another big night for Krystal Briggs, who dropped a triple-double on 29 points, 15 rebounds, and ten steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Demi Boykin was another key contributor, scoring 28 points.
Bear River posted their biggest victory since December 28, 2023 on Wednesday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 63-30 win over Wheatland. Given Bear River's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 285th, while Wheatland is ranked 902nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
The victory (which was Marysville's third in a row) raised their record to 13-4. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 59.67 points. As for Bear River, they pushed their record up to 14-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Everything came up roses for Marysville against Bear River in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 69-35 win. With Marysville ahead 41-14 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
