Baseball Game Preview: Granby Rams vs. Mahar Regional Senators

The Granby Rams will square off against the Mahar Regional Senators at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Granby is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Granby couldn't beat Pathfinder RVT on Monday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fourth inning. The Rams fell just short of the Pioneers by a score of 7-6. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Joe Barrett put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Granby is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-12 otherwise. Barrett was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base.

In other batting news, Brodie Funk made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Anthony Santiago, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Mahar Regional came into Monday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against Smith Academy on Monday as they made off with an 11-2 win. The high-scoring effort was just what the Senators needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

The victory was their first at home, bumping their record up to 2-8. As for Granby, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.
