Basketball Game Preview: Barstow Aztecs vs. Granite Hills Cougars

Barstow is 8-2 against Granite Hills since January of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Barstow Aztecs will host the Granite Hills Cougars at 5:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Monday, Barstow ended up a good deal behind Silverado and lost 57-38. The loss continues a trend for the Aztecs in their matchups with the Hawks: they've now lost seven in a row.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Emersyn Ebel, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Miyanna Ruffin, who posted seven points and four steals.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 20-20 at halftime, Granite Hills was not quite Silver Valley's equal in the second half on Monday. They fell 52-39 to the Trojans. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1136th, while the Trojans are ranked 551st).

Granite Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 4-16. As for Barstow, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.
