Baseball Recap: Charlevoix Rayders vs. Harbor Light Christian Swordsmen
Charlevoix extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 17 on Thursday, dropping them down to 0-14. They lost 15-5 to the Harbor Light Christian Swordsmen. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Swordsmen this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-4 on Thursday.
Ryan Glass made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Max Reynolds, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
As for Harbor Light Christian, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 contests by seven runs or more this season.
On Harbor Light Christian's side, Ayden Burns was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Burns has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Will Paulus was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025. CJ DuBois was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Charlevoix will face off against Mancelona at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Harbor Light Christian, they will venture away from home to square off against Harbor Springs at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
