Basketball Game Preview: Reynolds Raiders vs. Mercer Mustangs

The Reynolds Raiders will face off against the Mercer Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Reynolds and three for Mercer.

Reynolds is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Wilmington on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Reynolds was outmatched by Wilmington and fell 72-26. The Raiders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-12.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 75-43, which was the final score in Mercer's tilt against Kennedy Catholic on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 375th, while Kennedy Catholic are ranked 146th).

Reynolds' loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Mercer, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Reynolds was taken down by Mercer 48-16 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Reynolds avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
