Baseball Game Preview: Liberty Patriots vs. Buchanan Bears

Liberty is on a 12-game streak of home wins, while Buchanan is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Patriots will host the Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Liberty is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. Everything went their way against Clovis West as they made off with a 12-2 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last three times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Cash Gerecke made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

In other pitching news, Joshua Johnson looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, Liberty let Pierce Buckey and Braden Turman run wild. Buckey fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4, while Turman went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Turman has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Brogan Witcher, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Liberty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Buchanan made easy work of Madera on Friday and carried off a 12-5 win.

Buchanan's victory bumped their record up to 20-10. As for Liberty, their win bumped their record up to 22-7.
