Basketball Recap: El Segundo Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

There's no place like home for El Segundo, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They secured a 52-46 W over the Wiseburn- Da Vinci Wolves on Friday. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 362nd, while the Wolves are ranked 794th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emma Glover, who went 7 for 14 en route to 17 points and seven boards. That was a full 37% of Wiseburn- Da Vinci's points, marking the sixth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayla Muhammad-Flissinger, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten assists.

The victory snapped El Segundo's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 17-8 record. As for Wiseburn- Da Vinci, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-18.

El Segundo will take on Palos Verdes at 5:30 p.m. on January 31st. As for Wiseburn- Da Vinci, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Geffen Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Geffen Academy's defense has only allowed 15.6 points per game this season, so Wiseburn- Da Vinci's offense will have their work cut out for them.
