Baseball Game Preview: Elkhart Lions vs. South Bend Adams Eagles

The Elkhart Lions will venture away from home to challenge the South Bend Adams Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Elkhart turned things around against Mishawaka on Saturday. They came out on top against the Cavemen by a score of 6-2.

Elkhart's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Logan Kelly, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Kelly is becoming a predictor of the Lions' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-15 when he doesn't).

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Elkhart kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Eagles on Thursday. South Bend Adams put the hurt on Elkhart Christian Academy with a sharp 16-3 win. South Bend Adams hasn't had any issues with Elkhart Christian Academy recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

South Bend Adams also got a great performance from Jimmy Seitz as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave Seitz a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Weston Hoke and Cayden Keen did most of the damage at the plate: Hoke went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one stolen base, while Keen went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Keen is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Noah Mulvehill, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.

Elkhart's record now sits at 8-15. As for South Bend Adams, their record is now 5-13.
