Basketball Recap: Westridge's Losing Streak Snapped at Nine Games

After low-scoring totals in their previous three contests, Westridge brought some dynamite into their most recent match. They blew past the Southwestern Academy Sun, posting a 55-5 victory. The win was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their nine-game losing streak.

Despite the loss, Southwestern Academy still got an impressive performance from Valza Jusufi, who posted two points in addition to 14 boards and three blocks. Jusufi is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 23 games she's played dating back to last season.

Westridge's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-10. As for Southwestern Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-10 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Westridge will head out to challenge Mayfield at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Westridge is facing Mayfield at the right time seeing as Mayfield is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Southwestern Academy, they will venture away from home to face off against Hillcrest Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
