One team took the elevator way up and another took it way down in the power rankings this week. We'll tackle all that (plus a new number one team) in this week's report.
No Stoppin 'Em
Mankato West was the big favorite in its game against Mankato East last week, and for good reason. Mankato West had all the answers against Mankato East, winning 48 - 20. Mankato West had two big standouts, as junior Jack Foster tossed for two touchdowns and rushed for two more, while senior Melik Davis earned two touchdowns and 177 yards rushing the ball. The combined 68 points was the most of any game featuring a power-ranked team.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between Lakeville North and Eden Prairie, 1st and 2nd in the power rankings, respectively. Lakeville North came out on top against Eden Prairie with a 14 - 0 win. The victory raised Lakeville North up three spots in the power rankings.
Can't Stop Won't Stop
It was another outing, another win last week for the team with the longest stretch of success (three consecutive games). Academy of Holy Angels breezed past South St. Paul with a final score of 28 - 6. Even if it didn't bump Academy of Holy Angels up the rankings, the win at least kept the team from dropping.
