The Widefield Gladiators will head out to square off against the Rampart Rams at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Widefield will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.
On Thursday, Widefield made easy work of Palmer and carried off a 16-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Gladiators, who have now won 14 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Taylor Hall, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Miaja Starke was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Widefield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .720. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palmer only posted an OBP of .429.
Rampart not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since September 23, 2024 (when they won 18-3). They blew past Doherty 16-1.
Addison Jensen made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ella Lee was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs and four RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Emilie Sklenar also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Widefield's record now sits at 20-2. As for Rampart, their record is now 4-18.
Widefield took their victory against Rampart in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 14-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gladiators since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
