Basketball Game Preview: Glendora Tartans vs. Bishop Amat Lancers

The Glendora Tartans and the Bishop Amat Lancers will face off at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Glendora is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Bell Gardens: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Glendora blew Bell Gardens out of the water with a 59-25 final score. The Tartans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 22 points or more this season.

Glendora can attribute much of their success to Brianna Gomez, who went 9 of 17 en route to 22 points and three steals, and Ronnie Herrmann, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Herrmann is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Milana Luera, who posted four points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, Bishop Amat was able to grind out a solid win over Carson on Friday, taking the game 59-50. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Lancers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 430th in California, while the Senators are ranked 30th in Nevada).

Glendora is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.6 points per game. As for Bishop Amat, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
