Basketball Game Preview: Chavez Titans vs. McNair Eagles

The Chavez Titans will face off against the McNair Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Chavez is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak.

Chavez is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Tokay on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Chavez was outmatched by Tokay and fell 52-12. The Titans were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-4.

Anjali Nonnarath was Chavez's leading scorer, having posted six points.

Meanwhile, McNair unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They were dealt a 77-39 loss at the hands of St. Mary's. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 395th, while the Rams are ranked 51st).

Chavez's defeat dropped their record down to 3-22. As for McNair, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-11.

Chavez came up short against McNair when the teams last played back in February of 2024, falling 58-50. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of McNair's Kalysa Phanhsavang, who posted 27 points in addition to seven assists and seven boards.
