Basketball Recap: Kalina Powell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Brockway over Clarion-Limestone

Brockway was the 46-37 winner over Clarion-Limestone when they last played one another back in March of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Brockway Rovers took a 44-28 bruising from the Clarion-Limestone Lions on Wednesday.

Brockway lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Kalina Powell, who posted nine points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Schmader, who had nine points and eight rebounds.

Clarion-Limestone found their leader in sophomore Hannah Beggs, who put up 19 points in addition to eight rebounds and six steals. Beggs has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Erika Meals, who posted six points and seven rebounds.

Brockway's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Clarion-Limestone, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brockway will take on Cameron County in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at. Cameron County will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Brockway surely won't give up without a fight. As for Clarion-Limestone, they will challenge Moniteau at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
