Softball Recap: Durant Gets the Win

Durant took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Bixby, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Spartans on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since September 13th.

Emma Sherrer was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. She also put up a run, which was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryan Uber, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run. Those hits marked the first that she has got this season. Korbyn Robinson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Durant lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted in their last ten matchups.

Durant's record now sits at 10-25. As for Bixby, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-17.

Durant does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bixby, they will take on Tahlequah at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so the Spartans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
