Football Recap: Longview Skates Past Royse City with Ease

There's no place like home for Longview, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Royse City Bulldogs 52-24. Considering the Lobos have won four matchups by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

JOHNNY HAMILTON continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 228 yards and five touchdowns, while also rushing for 85 yards. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in August. SEAN DAVIS was in the mix as well, providing Longview with two TDs.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Longview was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 215 rushing yards. They are 4-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Royse City's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jamion Richardson, who threw for 269 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 37 yards. Richardson's passing game has become a key predictor of the Bulldogs' success: the team is 5-2 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 0-3 otherwise. Royse City's leading receiver Bryson Arney was Richardson's top target yet again, picking up 157 receiving yards and one score.

Longview is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.3 points over those games. As for Royse City, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-5.

Looking ahead, Longview will face off against Rowlett at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: HAMILTON and Samuel Loera. Royse City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
