Basketball Game Preview: Heritage Patriots vs. Granada Matadors

The Heritage Patriots will square off against the Granada Matadors at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage will be strutting in after a win while Granada will be coming in after a defeat.

On Saturday, Heritage took their match with ease, bagging a 66-29 victory over KIPP King.

Heritage's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Lily Wilright, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds, and Olachi Nwosu, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Riley Bayot, who posted eight points.

Heritage smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive contests.

Granada might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 61-40 to Marin Catholic, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. While losing is never fun, the Matadors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 437th, while the Wildcats are ranked 192nd).

This is the second loss in a row for Granada and nudges their season record down to 6-9. As for Heritage, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.

Everything came up roses for Heritage against Granada in their previous matchup back in November of 2017, as the squad secured a 69-20 victory. Will Heritage repeat their success, or does Granada have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
