Soccer Recap: Whittier Takes a Loss

Whittier lost against La Serna on January 11th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Whittier Cardinals came up short against the La Serna Lancers, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 707th, while the Lancers are ranked 169th).

Whittier's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-10-2. As for La Serna, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7-2 record this season.

Whittier is taking a road trip to take on Santa Fe at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Whittier is facing Santa Fe at the right time seeing as Santa Fe is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for La Serna, they will head out to face off against California at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. California is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.5 goals per game this season.
