Mira Loma takes loss despite strong efforts from Desiree Synhorst and Olivia Ulep

Recap: Mira Loma Matadors vs. Pioneer Patriots

The Mira Loma Matadors suffered their biggest loss since December 4, 2023 on Friday. They took a serious blow against Pioneer, falling 70-25. Mira Loma was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-9.

Mira Loma's loss came despite strong showings from Olivia Ulep and Desiree Synhorst. Ulep scored 14 points, while Synhorst scored two points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Synhorst hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games.

Leading Pioneer to victory were Naomi Navarro and Olivia Gill. Navarro scored 20 points, while Gill scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Navarro has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Marissa Christian, who scored 11 points.

Mira Loma has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Pioneer, the win was the 17th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-2.

Mira Loma will be playing in front of their home fans against Mesa Verde at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pioneer, they will head out on the road to challenge Dixon at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dixon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 798th, while Pioneer is ranked 220th).
