Basketball Game Preview: Sheldon Huskies vs. Laguna Creek Cardinals

Sheldon hasn't had much luck against Laguna Creek recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Sheldon Huskies will face off against the Laguna Creek Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. Sheldon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.7 points per game this season.

Sheldon will bounce into Friday's match after beating Franklin, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Sheldon walked away with a 66-55 victory over Franklin on Friday. Given the Huskies' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 300th, while the Wildcats are ranked 701st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sheldon's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooklin Kimmons, who posted 22 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Kayloni Knowlton, who earned eight points in addition to 23 rebounds and seven steals.

Meanwhile, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, Laguna Creek made off with a 52-51 victory over Pleasant Grove.

Sheldon's record is now 12-7. As for Laguna Creek, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Sheldon, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 68-51 loss to Laguna Creek in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Sheldon avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
