Basketball Recap: Westridge Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Westridge took on Polytechnic on Wednesday. The Westridge Tigers were outmatched by the Polytechnic Panthers and fell 58-17. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 67-17 back in December of 2024.

Polytechnic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jessie Yip led the charge by going 9 of 12 en route to 18 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Mira Mavis, who went 5 for 6 on her way to 10 points and seven rebounds.

Westridge dropped their record down to 1-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Polytechnic, they moved to 10-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Westridge will venture away from home to face off against Flintridge Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Polytechnic, they will host Providence at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Polytechnic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.4 points per game this season.
