It was fun while it lasted, but Coronado's undefeated season came to an end after eight games on Friday. They were outmatched by the Lincoln Hornets and fell 79-16. The match marked the Islanders' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Coronado saw an underclassman step up: freshman Gabby Fichter posted 13 points.

Having lost for the first time this season, Coronado fell to 8-1. As for Lincoln, they pushed their record up to 10-5 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road.

Coronado and Lincoln should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. Coronado (ranked 382nd) will meet Kearny (ranked 807th) at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Lincoln will face off against Canyon Hills at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday up 687 places (88 vs. 775).
