Stockbridge hasn't had much luck against Locust Grove recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Tigers will head out to challenge the Wildcats at 5:55 p.m. Stockbridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.4 runs per game this season.
Stockbridge gave up the first runs last Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They had just enough and edged out Hampton 5-4. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by just one run.
Alijah Blount and Dereck Foster made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Blount tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Foster pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Blount has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Blount went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI, while Foster scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Foster is becoming a predictor of Stockbridge's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 6-11 when he doesn't).
In other pitching news, Sam Waters looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Jeremiah McGeachy was incredible, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Casey McBride, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.
Stockbridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hampton only managed one hit.
Meanwhile, after a string of eight wins, Locust Grove's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of East Coweta.
Stockbridge is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Locust Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-9.
Stockbridge might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Locust Grove in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
