Ponaganset had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. Everything went their way against the Smithfield Sentinels as they made off with a 59-36 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Chieftains, who have now won five matchups in a row dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Ponaganset will be home for the holidays to greet Classical at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. This will be the Chieftains' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Smithfield, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on North Providence at 6:30 p.m. on January 20, 2026.
