Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Newton County Academy). They put the hurt on the Central Holmes Christian Trojans with a sharp 42-20 victory on Friday.

Cooper Savell threw for 47 yards on three of nine attempts. Taylor Burt was his top target, picking up 47 receiving yards.

Newton County Academy's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Central Holmes Christian, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newton County Academy will venture away from home to face off against Prentiss Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Generals their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Central Holmes Christian, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Delta Academy at 7:00 p.m. on October 3.
