Basketball Recap: Mira Costa Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Mira Costa picked up another tournament win on Tuesday. They strolled past the Fountain Valley Barons with points to spare, taking the game 58-44. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Barons are ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mira Costa has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-2 record this season. As for Fountain Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Mira Costa will take on Cypress in a tournament on Thursday. Cypress will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something Mira Costa surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fountain Valley, they will challenge Yorba Linda at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
