Football Recap: Nettleton Comes Up Short

Nettleton had lost seven straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 0-9 to make it eight. They had to suffer through a 42-14 loss at the hands of Winona. While losing is never fun, Nettleton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 237th, while Winona is ranked 76th).

As for Winona, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Winona's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Landon Crawford, who threw for 151 yards and two TDs on perfect 6-for-6 passing. The dominant performance also gave Crawford a new career-high in passer rating (177.1). Tavarius Eden was another key rusher, rushing for 57 yards and one touchdown.

Nettleton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Winona, they will take on O'Bannon at 7:00 p.m. on November 7. The Greenwaves' defense has only allowed 14.8 points per game this season, so the Tigers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
