Basketball Game Preview: Evergreen Valley Cougars vs. Prospect Panthers

Prospect will be up against a hot Evergreen Valley squad: the team just extended their winning streak to five. Evergreen Valley walked away with a 60-49 victory over Branham on Tuesday.

Evergreen Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Samanvi Gudlavaletti, who posted 23 points and three steals. Gudlavaletti is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Aastha Bhagat, who earned 20 points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Prospect). They claimed a resounding 62-34 victory over Leland. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 21 points or more this season.

Evergreen Valley is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Prospect, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-3.

Everything came up roses for Evergreen Valley against Prospect in their previous meeting back in December of 2021, as the squad secured a 65-15 victory. In that game, Evergreen Valley amassed a halftime lead of 43-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
