Recap: Sierra Timberwolves vs. Manteca Buffaloes
The Sierra Timberwolves's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Manteca by a score of 55-53. While losing is never fun, Sierra can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 500th, while Manteca is ranked 171st).
Sierra's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Taylor Zalunardo, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Zalunardo has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Mya Everett, who scored ten points.
Jada Ikharo continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Manteca, scoring 22 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. Michailla Springs was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Sierra's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-10. As for Manteca, they pushed their record up to 17-4 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Sierra will take on Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Central Catholic is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. As for Manteca, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kimball at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
