Recap: Orangewood Academy Spartans vs. Fairmont Prep Huskies
Even though the Fairmont Prep Huskies scored an imposing 60 points on Saturday, the Orangewood Academy Spartans still came out on top. Orangewood Academy snuck past Fairmont Prep with a 64-60 victory. The win made it back-to-back wins for Orangewood Academy.
Orangewood Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Maria Mejia, who scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mejia has scored all season. Vicky Om was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Orangewood Academy pushed their record up to 13-5 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Fairmont Prep, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Orangewood Academy will take on Santiago at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Santiago is ranked 26th, while Orangewood Academy is ranked 49th). As for Fairmont Prep, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Windward at 6:30 p.m.
