Volleyball Recap: Opp Falls Despite Big Games from Carreline Spears and Crislyn Birge + How To Watch

Opp and Straughn squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Opp had to settle for second. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 3-1 loss back in September.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-20, 22-25, 25-6.

Opp's loss came despite strong showings from Crislyn Birge and Carreline Spears. Birge had 16 digs and two assists, while Spears had 16 digs and eight kills. Birge is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 16 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Opp has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-16 record this season. As for Straughn, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-11.

Looking ahead, after both having extra time off, Opp and American Christian Academy will shake off the rust and duke it out at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday. Straughn does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
