Softball Recap: Pace Academy Wins Going Away Against Decatur

Pace Academy barely beat Decatur the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Knights put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 10-2 win on Thursday. Considering the Knights have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Megan Wrigley made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katie Wrigley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Bodhi Venturi, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and one double.

Pace Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher in four consecutive matchups.

Pace Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Decatur, they moved to 17-3 with that loss, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Pace Academy nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
