Basketball Recap: Academy for Academic Excellence Takes a Loss

Academy for Academic Excellence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell 58-46 to the Fairfax Lions.

Fairfax found their leader in sophomore Mila Spencer, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 11 rebounds. Spencer is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Petty-Wright, who posted 11 points and six boards.

Academy for Academic Excellence's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Fairfax, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Academy for Academic Excellence will challenge Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Academy for Academic Excellence is facing Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy at the right time seeing as Cobalt Institute of Math & Science Academy is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Fairfax, they will face off against Hamilton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hamilton will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Fairfax surely won't give up without a fight.
