Basketball Game Preview: Santa Monica Vikings vs. Burbank Bulldogs

Having just played yesterday, the Santa Monica Vikings will jump right back in to play the Burbank Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Santa Monica saw some tournament action on Thursday. They were dealt a 71-15 defeat at the hands of La Salle. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 517th, while the Lancers are ranked 24th).

Meanwhile, Burbank entered their match against Trinity Classical Academy on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Burbank fell to Trinity Classical Academy 51-46.

This is the second loss in a row for Santa Monica and nudges their season record down to 3-6. As for Burbank, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-4.

Santa Monica didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Burbank when the teams last played back in November of 2018, but they still walked away with a 52-47 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Santa Monica since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
