Volleyball Game Preview: Strawn Greyhounds vs. Newcastle Bobcats

The Strawn Greyhounds will take on the Newcastle Bobcats at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Monday, Strawn didn't have quite enough to beat Rotan and fell 3-2. The Greyhounds have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Strawn started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 17-25, 25-19, 25-17, 15-7.

Meanwhile, Newcastle came up short against Perrin-Whitt on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Bobcats haven't had much luck with the Pirates recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

While Newcastle was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the third set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-19, 25-23.

Strawn's defeat dropped their record down to 27-10-1. As for Newcastle, their loss dropped their record down to 10-12.

Strawn was able to grind out a solid win over Newcastle in their previous meeting back in November of 2024, winning 3-1. Will the Greyhounds repeat their success, or do the Bobcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
