Softball Recap: Kearney Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Kearney dropped to 25-12 on Wednesday, ending the team's five-game streak of wins on the road. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bellevue East Chieftains. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Bearcats' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Bellevue East, their victory was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games.

For Bellevue East's part, the result came thanks to Alisha Mcmurtry's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 15 Ks. Mcmurtry has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bellevue East saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cota Barmore, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Emma Friedrich was another, earning two runs and two stolen bases.

As of now, neither Kearney nor Bellevue East have any future games scheduled.
