Basketball Recap: Birmingham Beats Taft for Their Eighth Straight Win

Birmingham had won seven straight games and Lili Martinez did her part to make it eight on Wednesday. The Birmingham Patriots breezed by the Taft Toreadors to the tune of 70-4 thanks in part to Martinez, who made all 7 shots she took for 16 points. That's the most points she has posted since back in December of 2024.

Another player making a difference was Kamora Coleman, who earned four points. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 19 games she's played.

Birmingham pushed their record up to 18-6 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.0 points over those games. As for Taft, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.

Looking ahead, Birmingham will be playing in front of their home fans against Cleveland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Taft, they will head out on the road to face off against Chatsworth at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
