Basketball Recap: Tyler Jackson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Wagner over New Braunfels

Wagner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-48 heartbreaker at the hands of the New Braunfels Unicorns. The Thunderbirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Unicorns apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.

Several Thunderbirds players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tyler Jackson, who posted 13 points. Lance Johnson was another key player, putting up eight points and five rebounds.

Wagner's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for New Braunfels, they pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Wagner will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on Judson at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Thunderbirds will need to watch out since the Rockets have now posted at least 55 points in their last three matchups. As for New Braunfels, they will be taking part in a tournament against Orange Grove at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
