Softball Recap: Doherty Spartans vs. Pine Creek Eagles
Doherty extended their losing streak to 14 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-18. They lost 18-0 to the Pine Creek Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-1 back in September.
As for Pine Creek, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 17-3. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games.
For Pine Creek's part, Kyleigh Croyle was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Croyle has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kailani *Kai* Shideler, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Layla Laramie, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
