Baseball Recap: Walker Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Walker got themselves on the board against Mt. Bethel Christian Academy on Saturday, but Mt. Bethel Christian Academy never followed suit. They came out on top against the Mt. Bethel Christian Academy Eagles by a score of 5-0. That's more bragging rights for the Wolverines, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The result came thanks to Zachary Munafo's shutout, as he gave up just three hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Walker is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 4-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Austin Lipscomb, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 1-for-2. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jayden Cohen also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Walker's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-9. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.33 runs. As for Mt. Bethel Christian Academy, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walker will challenge The Weber School at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Weber School's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Walker's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Mt. Bethel Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to square off against Mount Vernon at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
