Softball Recap: Columbus' Luck Changes for the Better on Saturday

Columbus hadn't done well against Grand Island recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Discoverers were the clear victors by a 12-6 margin over the Islanders. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Discoverers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Tressa Kucera was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gracie Bos, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Columbus lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more home runs.

Columbus' victory bumped their record up to 7-22. As for Grand Island, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-21 record this season.

Columbus has already played their next contest, a 10-0 defeat against Gretna on the 8th. As for Grand Island, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 9-1 loss against Bellevue East on the 8th.
